Two tenants shared a unit. Peter was suspicious while John was rather simple.
One day, Peter put a note of fifty dollars on the bookshelf when tidying the sitting room. He forgot where he put the money soon afterwards. Later, Peter found his fifty dollars missing and so he started to suspect John. The more Peter thought about it, the more he was sure about his conjecture.
He thought, "If not him, why does he behave stealthily like a thief?" Peter felt like confronting John, but thinking that there was no evidence in hands and that the relationship might be spoilt, he decided not to raise the subject. However, his anger remained in his heart.
A few days later, when rummaging through the bookshelf for a magazine, Peter was reminded of his lost fifty-dollar note. Luckily, the note was still safely lying on the shelf. That day, he saw John again. In his eyes, John was pure and innocent. No, he did not look like a thief at all. Peter felt extremely lucky that he had not confronted his roommate a few days before.
