The Parrot

A parrot was hindered from home because he hurt himself during a trip on a mountain. Fortunately, the animals on the mountain were kind to him. Some helped to treat him and some provided food; everyone was quite friendly. They soon become good friends.

After a few days, the parrot was fully recovered. He was quite reluctant to leave, but, certainly, he had to return to his own home. He had made up his mind even though his new friends repeatedly urged him to stay.

A few months passed after the parrot left. The mountain unexpectedly caught a big fire. Seeing the fire from afar, immediately the parrot dampened his feather in the lake, flew to the mountain and sprinkled the water on his body to the fire.

At this moment, a God up in the sky saw the parrot and could not help but jeer at his stupidity. How can such a small amount of water put out the fire?

To the God's surprise, the parrot replied, 'I know I can't put out the fire, but here are my benefactors, my friends, who saved me wholeheartedly. I can't just sit and watch them suffer.'

The God was deeply touched. At last, he helped the parrot extinguish the fire.
